You and them and Aaron. Every man shall take a pan and burn incense in it and stand before the Lord. Every man with his pan, 250 pans, even you and Aaron. And every man took his pan with incense and stood in the tabernacle, and so did Moses and Aaron. And Korah gathered the whole congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle.
There appeared the glory of the Lord unto all the congregation. The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and said: Separate yourselves from this congregation, so that I may consume them in a moment. “Oh God”, they fell on their faces, “thou art the God of the spirits, for all flesh, if one man has sinned, will you rage against the whole community?” And the Lord said to Moses: They must retreat from the tabernacle to the residences of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. And Moses stood up, shared this with the community, and did as God commanded him. Dathan and Abiram came out from their homes; with their women and children.
But if the Lord does something different, Moses said, so that the ground opens and swallows them up, with everything that is theirs, and drive them down to the dead, alive, then ye shall understand that they have blasphemed against God. And when he had finished uttering these words, the ground tore up from under them and swallowed them up with their families and all those who belong to Korah. And the Earth closed upon them, and all of Israel fled at their cries, because they thought that the Earth would swallow us too. And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men that offered the incense.
