And when Moses has set up the residence, the princes of Israel offered their gifts there and brought the gifts before the Lord: six covered wagons and twelve oxen, a wagon each for the princes and a bull for each.

The Lord said to Moses: Take it from them and give it to the Levites. Moses distributed the gifts among the Levites: two wagons and four oxen to the sons of Gershon.

He gave four wagons and eight oxen to the sons of Merari. He gave none to the sons of Kohath, because they had been in charge of the sanctuary and had to carry it on their shoulders to the altar.

And the princes made offerings for the consecration of the altar on the day that he was anointed. And the Lord said to Moses: Let one prince come every day, and bring his offering.
