Surely God is good to Israel, to all those who are pure in heart. I was envious of the arrogant when I saw his prosperity. For there are no struggles in their death, their strength is firm, they are well-fed and not plagued with illness. Arrogance is their necklace, and their eyes bulge with fat. They are clothed in their evils, and their hearts brim over with malice. They scoff, they speak falsely, and what they say is untrue. They insult the heavens, and let their tongues speak freely. The people listen to them. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.
I had done evil as they had; I had spoken as they did, until I entered the sanctuary and considered how they end – how they are suddenly and horribly destroyed.

Yes, Lord, he who is far from you shall perish. But as for me, to be close to God is my joy.
