Moses called all of the Israelites together and said:
Hear, Israel! The commandments and judgments. that I tell you, learn them, keep them that you act according to them. The Lord has made a covenant with us on Horeb, with you who live from the fire on the mountain, with you he spoke and he said:
I am the Lord, your God you shall have no
Other gods aside from me.
You shall not make images in any form that lives in the heavens, on land or in the water.
You shall not pray to them, nor serve them for I am the Lord your God who punishes the offender through the third of fourth generation of those who hate me.
However, I will show to mercy to thousands that love me and obey my commandments.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
You shall hold the sabbath sacred. Six days you shall work, the seventh day is the day of the Lord, then you shall do no work. Neither a son, nor a daughter, your servant, maidservant, ox, donkey nor any of your cattle nor any foreigner in the city.
You shall honor you father and your mother as the Lord commands so that you may live long in the land that the Lord has given you.
You shall not kill.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not give false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, you shall not covet your neighbor’s house, field, servant, maidservant, ox, donkey nor anything your neighbor possesses.

These are the words that the Lord said to the community on Mount Horeb from the fire and the cloud and the darkness in a loud voice and wrote them on two stone tablets.
Moses as the intermediary between God and Israel
When you saw the fire and heard the voice from the darkness you came to me, the eldest of your tribe and said:
Why are we to die? Who can hear the voice of the living god from the fire and live. Go near and listen, we wish to hear and do it.
The Lord hears all of this and commands Moses to send the people home to their tents that he may proclaim all of the laws, commandments and judgments, that you, Moses, shall teach them. However, take care not to turn left or right but to follow the paths God, the Lord has commanded.
