The king’s heart was greatly moved, he went into the upper room and wept, “O my son Absalom! My son, my son!”
And Joab was told that the king wept and when he came into the house, the king covered his face. And Joab said, “Today you have shamed all your servants, who saved your life today, and your sons, daughters, your wives, and your concubines, because you love those who hate you, and hate those who love you. For you have declared today, that princes and soldiers are nothing to you. If all we died and Absalom lived you would have been pleased. Therefore come out to your servants. If you don’t do this, it will be worse for you than all evil.”
And David sat down at the gate.
