And when David came to the top, where God was worshiped, behold, Hushai the Archite met him, with his tunic torn and earth upon his head. David said to him, “Do not go with me, go back to the city and say to Absalom, ‘I will be thy servant, O king, as I have been your father’s servant in the past. Then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel. Zadok and Abiathar are also with you. And everything you hear in the king’s house, tell it to Zadok and Abiathar. Their two sons Ahimaaz and Jonathan are with you, by them you can tell everything to me.’ ”
And Hushai did this and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
