Joab fought against Rabbah, the city of the Ammonites and conquered them. And Joab sent a message to David to bring the rest of the army to the siege. He took the crown of their king from off his head, and its weight was a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones. It was set on David’s head. And he placed the people under hard labor with saws, iron picks and axes and made them work at the brick kilns. He did this to all of the cities, and he went back to Jerusalem.
