And so David would not allow the ark to be brought to him, but he brought it into the house of Obed-Edom, the Gittite, and the Lord blessed all his house. But three months later, David brought the ark up to the city from the house of Obed-Edom.
And when the bearers of the ark of the Lord had gone six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fat calf.
And David danced before the Lord with all his might and he was clothed in a linen priest’s apron. And they brought up the ark with shouting and with the sound of trumpets. As the ark came into the city, Michal looked out the window and saw David dancing. And she despised him in her heart.
And they set the ark in the middle of the tent they had prepared for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord and he blessed the people and gave them bread cakes, meat and raisin cakes. When the people left to go home and David returned to his house, Michal went to meet him and said, “How glorious the king of Israel was today, who uncovered himself today before his servants’ maids like one of the vain people.” But David said, “I will be low before the Lord, lower than now. But I the maids will honor me.” But Michal had no child until her death.
