And all the tribes of Israel and all the elders came to David at Hebron and David made a covenant with them before the Lord and they anointed him – and king over Israel. David was thirty years old and he reigned forty years in Hebron, seven years and six months over Judah and Israel, thirty-three years in Jerusalem.and the king went to Jerusalem
against the Jebusites, who said, “You can’t come in here. The blind and the lame will keep you out of here.” But David took the stronghold of Zion. This is David’s city. Then David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, and goes up through the water shaft and kills the lame and blind shall be chief and captain.”So Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and became a captain. Therefore they say, “Let no blind and the lame into the house.” Thus David lived in the stronghold, and called it David’s city. David further built the city all around and his power grew greater and the Lord of Hosts was with him.
And King Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar wood, carpenters, and David was established as king. And he took more wives and concubines.
And more sons and daughters were born to him in Jerusalem:
Shammua – Shobab – Nathan – Salomon – Ibhar – Elishua – Nepheg – Japhia – Eliashama – Eliada – Eliphelet
