There was war again and David went out and fought against the Philistines. But the evil spirit came upon Sauland he lay in wait in his house for David. David played the harp as he had done before. And Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear. David fled.
That night, Saul sent messengers and guards to David’s house to kill him in the morning. Michal, his wife and daughter of Saul, let him down through the window and he fled and escaped.
Then Michal took the idol, laid it in David’s bed and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head. “He is sick,” she said. But Saul gave orders to bring him in his bed, in order to kill him. Saul became aware of the deception. But Michal said, “If I had not let him escape, he would have killed me.”
