Deliver me, Lord, from evil men.
Preserve me.
They devise mischief in their hearts, and continually gather themselves for war.
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.
Viper’s poison is under their lips.
The proud have hidden a snare for me,
they have spread the cords of a net by the path, and set traps.
Listen to my petitions, Lord, my strong aid.
You cover my head before the wicked.
Those who surround me shall not lift their heads;
they shall be thrown down to the pits.
An evil speaker will not be established in the earth.
May the violent man meet with misfortune,
and receive hit for hit what they have given!
The Lord helps the needy to justice, and takes up the cause of the poor.
Only the righteous will praise your name.
