Lord, you have searched me,
and you know me!
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
you perceive my thoughts.
You search out my path and my lying down.
You know me. You are acquainted with all my ways,
for there is not a word on my tongue, but you know it already.
You hem me in behind and before,
and place your hand upon me.
Where can I flee from you and your spirit?
If I ascend up to heaven, you are there.
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand will lead me.
Even the darkness doesn’t hide me from you.
The night would shine like the day, as though it were light.
You have formed my innermost being in my mother’s womb.
I give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your eyes saw how I was created.
In your book everything was already written.
How precious to me are your thoughts.
They are as vast as the grains of sand.
I hate evildoers. Lord, lead me on right paths.
