Lord, my heart is not proud,
and my eyes are not lofty,
nor do I concern myself with things
too wonderful or too high for me.
Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother – so quiet.
Israel, hope in the Lord into eternity.

Oh Lord, remember David,
and how he swore to Jacob: “I will not come into the tent,
nor go up on my bed, nor give sleep to my eyes,
or slumber to my eyelids,
until I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling for the mighty Lord of Jacob.
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah.
We found it in the field of Jaar. We will go into his dwelling place.
We will worship at his footstool in his resting place.
Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place, for your servant David’s sake.
The Lord has sworn an oath to the sons of David.
He has chosen Zion as a habitation,
and Zion’s bread is for the poor of David.
I will reinforce the power of David there, and clothe his enemies with shame.
