with the little tribe of Benjamin going before, then the princes of Judah,
of Zebulun, of Naphtali.
Your God has commanded your strength.
Rebuke the wild animals of the reeds,
the multitude of the strong
who delight in war.

Kings come bearing gifts
from Egypt, bringing iron tools.
Ethiopia shall stretch out its hands to God.
Sing to your king, you kingdoms of the earth,
sing and play for the Lord
who rides on the heavens,
uttering his voice, a mighty voice.
Praise God’s power.

Save me, oh God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
Deep water is around me, and mire,
and floods overflow me.
I am weary with my crying;
my eyes fail, looking for my God.

Those who hate me without cause
are more than the hairs of my head.
I have to restore what I didn’t take away.
Whosoever searches for you,
God of Israel, do not let him be disgraced.

I have become a stranger to my brothers,
and the deriders have reproached me.
I went about in sackcloth and ashes;
I became a byword to them.
Those who sit in the gate talk about me.
I am the song of drunkards. But I pray to you.
