Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God.
His holy mountain, high in the North
Zion, is the city of the great king.
The kings assembled themselves,
but when they saw it, they were amazed. They were dismayed.
They hurried away. Trembling took hold of them there,
pain, as of a woman in travail.
Like a storm from the east which destroys ships.
As is your name, God, so is your praise
to the ends of the earth.
Walk about the mountain of Zion, and go around her.
Number her towers. Consider her palaces,
so you may tell it to the next generation.
For this God is our God forever and ever.
He will be our guide even to death.
