He who strikes someone with iron and causes their death, he is a murderer and shall be put to death. If he throws a stone and causes their death he is a murderer and shall be put to death. If he strikes someone with a piece of wood and causes their death, he is a murderer and shall be put to death. The blood avenger shall bring the murderer to death wherever he meets him.
He who pushes someone through hate or insidiousness and causes their death, or through ill-will, he shall be put to death. He is a murderer.
However, when this happens by accident the community must judge between he that struck and the blood avenger according to these regulations. The community is to rescue the killer from the hands of the blood avenger and bring him back to the free city to which he fled. He is to remain there in his free city until the death of the high priest who was anointed with oil. However, if the killer crosses over the border of his free city and the blood avenger finds him beyond the birders and strikes him dead he shall not be guilty of shedding blood for he should have remained within his free city and returned to his country of inheritance following the death of the high priests. This is to be law for you.
He who kills a person, he is to be killed following the testimony of witnesses. A single witness may not make testimony which brings death to a person. And you shall not accept atonement money from them that have fled to a free city to live in the land until the high priest dies. Do not defile the land in which you live.
For he who has shed blood defiles the land. However, the land can not be redeemed of blood which was shed there except with the blood of he who shed it. Do not pollute the land where you dwell. For the Lord is all around you.
