And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and said unto them, these are the animals which you may eat among all in the country. Everything that has split hooves and is ruminant, them shall ye eat. Though the camel is ruminant, it does not have split hooves, therefore it is unclean for you. The rabbit does not have split hooves, so it is unclean for you. The pig has split hooves, but is not a ruminant. Of these you shall not eat, nor touch their carcass. It is unclean.
Whatever has fins and scales in water ye shall eat of the sea and rivers. But whatever stirs in the sea and rivers that does not have these features shall be an abomination, ye shall abhor it.
Among the birds you shall abhor and not eat;eagle, hawk, osprey, vultures, consecrations of its kind, raven of its kind, ostrich, night owl, cuckoo, hawk of its kind, screech owl, swan, eagle owl, bat, bittern, stork, herons, jays, hoopoes and swallows.
Also all small animals which have wings and walk on all fours are an abomination. But you may eat everything that has wings and four feet. Whatever has two legs above its feet which jumps on Earth – from these you can eat:Grasshopper, the Aobe and Solam with all their kind, as well as the hargol and hagab with all theirs. Whatever else has wings and feet shall be an abomination to you, with which you would defile yourselves. Everything else that also has four paws and feet shall be unclean – do not touch their carcasses, it will make you unclean until the evening and you shall have to wash your garments.
Whatever abounds the Earth among beasts, the following shall be unclean: The weasel, the mouse, the toad and all its kind, the gecko, the pig, the lizard, the blindworm and the mole. Whatever crawls there is unclean. All equipment, vessels and clothes should be washed with water. Ye shall break all Earthen vessels.All food will be unclean if washed with waste water. Also, anything that has a carcass fall on it will become impure, whether it is an oven or stove. Only wells and cisterns will remain pure. But whatever carcass has sunk into it is unclean. Nevertheless, the seeds on which a carcass falls remain pure, that is, unless water had previously come out, he will remain pure also.
If one of the animals die which is meant to be food; whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until evening. Whoever eats of their carcass shall be unclean; he shall have to wash his clothes.
You shall not eat anything that crawls on the ground and crawls on its belly, or anything that crawls on four or more feet upon the Earth; it shall be an abomination. Do not defile yourselves for atrocities on all small animals. For I am the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, therefore ye shall be holy, for I am holy.
This is the law on animals, four-legged creatures, birds, for all those in the water and those that crawl upon the Earth. According to this, you can distinguish between pure and impure.
