Jehoahaz reigned three months in Jerusalem. He did what displeased the Lord. Pharaoh Neco put him in the prison of Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he laid upon the land a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and one talent of gold. And Pharaoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah regent and changed his name to Jehoiakim, who gave the required silver and gold because Pharaoh placed a tax on the land. Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. But he did what displeased the Lord.
