Merodach Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, because he was sick. Hezekiah was pleased with the messengers and showed them all his treasure house, the silver, gold, spices and the best oil and the armory and all that was found in his treasures. Then Isaiah came to Hezekiah and asked him, “What did these men say? From where did they come?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from Babylon, far away.” Isaiah asked, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “Everything!” Then Isaiah said, “Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house will be carried to Babylon. Some of your sons will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” Hezekiah said, “The Lord’s word which you have spoken is good.” Because Hezekiah thought, there will be peace in my days. Hezekiah built the pool and the conduit in the city. When he died, his son Manasseh became king over Judah.
