Solomon was building his palace for thirteen years. The House of the Forest of Lebanon was one hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high. Three rows of cedar pillars and cedar beams were above the columns. A covering of cedar was over the chambers. There were 540 pillars, fifteen in each row. The windows were in three rows, so that a row of windows faced another three times, all the windows were square. Solomon built the portico 50 cubits long, 30 cubits wide. In front of it, there was a hall with pillars and a canopy. He built the throne hall, which was the hall of justice, which was paneled from the floor to the rafters with cedar wood.
His own house was in another courtyard and was of like construction.
He also built a house for his wife, which was like his own hall. Everything was made with costly stones that were cut to the size of blocks inside and outside with a saw. The foundations were made of costly, massive stone blocks of 10 x 8 cubits. There were costly stones blocks as well as cedar beams over it. The courtyard was surrounded with three layers of stones and cedar beams, as was the inner courtyard to the Lord’s house and the yard around the palace hall.
