Pharaoh’s daughter was bathing in the Nile, while her companions waited on the shore. She found the basket. She opened it and the child
cried. They gave the Hebrew child to a Hebrew woman (who happened to be his mother) to nurse. And the mother nursed her child until he was strong and she brought the boy to Pharaoh’s daughter. And she named him “Moses,” because she said, “I drew him out of the water.”
