The two short letters appear to be written by unknown authors in the tradition of John. The older one names himself as the sender and must have had a lot of influence, that would have been felt in the Asiatic region. In Ephesus, that legend has it was the place where John died, we can guess the person addressed was the Christian assembly where there is reference to ” the chosen lady”

Heaven foretells the glory of God

And the stars praise his grace. The morning and the evening rejoice in his name Judas.

From the rising of the sun to its going down, the name of the Lord is glorified, he is honored from one end of heaven to the other, the whole earth is full of his glory.
