This epistle is the oldest text of the new Testament and was probably written In the year 50/51 A.D. in Corinth by the Apostle Paul as one of his earliest letters. (Winter) The 2nd Epistle was written shortly afterwards very probably by Paul or one of his disciples. The Parousia is a dominant theme and coincides with the “Day of the Lord” foretold by the prophets of the old Testament.
The apocalypse was strongly emphasised by Paul and thus the second coming of the Messiah is regarded with constant patience. It is the will of God that you live in holiness.
