The war between the two houses lasted until Abner went in to one of Saul’s concubines. Her name was Rizpah. Ishbosheth accused Abner of on account of this. Abner was angry, “Am I a dog’s head from Judah?” Then Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, to say that he wanted to make an alliance with him and that he would bring all of Israel back to him. David agreed, under the condition that he bring Saul’s daughter Michal with him, or he would not see his face. They took Paltiel’s wife Michal away from him, and he wept bitterly after her.
