So David received from her hand what she had brought him, and he said to her, “Go up in peace to your house.” When Abigail came to Nabal, he had prepared a feast in his house and was merry and drunk. In the morning, she told him everything and his heart died within him and he became as a stone. Ten days later, he died. The Lord had returned Nabal’s evildoing upon his own head.
David heard about this and sent messengers to Abigail to tell her he was taking her to be his wife.
She bowed with her face to the earth and said, “Behold, your servant is willing. And she arose with her five maidens and followed after the messengers of David.
