They drew water and poured it out before the Lord. And they showed remorse for their sins.
When the Philistines heard of it, they came against Israel again.
The Israelites were afraid and they cried to God for help. And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. The Lord answered him. During the offering, the Philistines came and the Lord sent loud thunder and frightened them, and they were struck down before Israel. And the men of Mizpah went after them and struck them to Beth Kar. Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen. “The Lord has helped us until now.” The defeated Philistines came no more into the land of Israel.
