I will sing of loving kindness and justice.
To you, oh Lord, will I sing praises.
I will be careful and live a blameless life.
I will live with a blameless heart –
when will you come to me?

I will set no vile thing before my eyes.
I hate evil, and perverseness will be far from me.

I will have nothing to do with evil.
I will remain blameless.

I will silence whoever slanders his neighbor.
I will not tolerate proud eyes or a haughty heart.
I will seek out the tears in the land,
and he who walks in a perfect way may serve me.
No one who practices deceit or speaks falsehood
will dwell in my house.
Morning by morning,
I will pronounce judgment on the wicked of the land,
to keep it clean.

Lord, hear my prayer,
and let my cry come to you.
Don’t hide your face from me in the day of my distress.
My days are like smoke,
my bones are burned as in a fire,
and my heart is blighted like grass.
I forget to eat my bread for groaning.
I am a pelican of the wilderness,
an owl of the waste places,
and lie awake like a lonely bird on the housetop.
My enemies reproach me;
I have to eat dust and mix my drink with my tears.
Lord, arise, have mercy on Zion,
and rebuild it.
The Lord looks down from the holy heights.
He will listen to the groans of the prisoner,
and free those who are condemned to death.
God has weakened my strength along the course,
and shortened my days.
Don’t take me away in the middle of my days.
Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth.
Your heavens – they will wear out like a garment which is changed –
but you remain.
Your years will have no end.
