At the end of twenty years, when Solomon built the two houses, the house of the Lord and the king’s house, King Solomon gave Hiram, king of Tyre, twenty cities in the land of Galilee. Hiram went out to see all these cities, but they did not please him. They are called Kabul until this day. Hiram sent Solomon a hundred and twenty talents of gold.
This is the reason for the forced labor which king Solomon used to build the temple, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer. Because Pharaoh of Egypt had taken Gezer and burned it down. Then he gave it to his daughter, Solomon’s wife. Solomon built it again, and also built Beth Horon, Baalath and Tamar in the wilderness of Judah.
All cities with granaries, cities for his chariots, the horsemen and whatever he desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion. All the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites who did not belong to Israel and their descendants, those who were left, whom Israel was not able to utterly destroy, he made them forced laborers to this day. And five hundred fifty chief officers were over the people who did the work.
And Solomon’s wife moved from the city of David to her house. He also built the Millo (the embankment).
Three times a year Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings to the Lord on the altar. Solomon also built ships in Ezion Geber in Eloth on the Red Sea in the land of Edom. And Hiram sent experienced sailors to Solomon’s sailors on the ships. And they took twenty talents of gold in Ophir and brought it to King Solomon.
